I’m about to start back to school in my second year as a teacher. It’s been the perfect transition for me to step out of wedding planning and also focus on creating art. In the process, I’ve fallen in love with teaching and helping children see their potential, rise to it, and even stretch beyond it.
Earlier this week, I shared some pencils I sketched in my art journal and it morphed into two different ideas for back-to-school student cards. I’m so excited to give these to my sweet kiddos! (And Nancy, if you’re reading this … calm down. No one expected you to watercolor cards for the kids! 🙂 )
Here’s the process of creating the cards…
First I sketched and sketched and sketched….
Then I used pen and watercolored and erased my sketch marks. And I cut them all… I LOVE how each one is handmade, slightly different and imperfect. Not sure why I love those things so much, but I do!
Finally, I backed the watercolor images with designer card stock to make them pop!
Less than two weeks to go…..
