Welcome to our little Christmas Tour of Homes!
I’m so happy that you stopped by…
Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, which will become obvious to you in a moment when you see all the pictures of our home decorated for the Christmas season. Just like the decor in our home, we tend to gravitate to traditional Southern style, with sentimental vintage and antique items intermingled with a modern twist on the design. My husband and I also turn into children in spirit this time of year, making a big deal about even the smallest things at Christmas just for the fun of it, making things as a family, creating memories with our daughter, extended family and friends. I hope you enjoy all the special touches my family and I incorporate into this holiday season each year, and that it also gives you a little inspiration to find the joy and love that this season brings to each of us every year.
Also, make sure to stop by my friends’ homes (links are at the bottom) when you’re finished here!
We love Christmas so much … and now have so many ornaments that we put up two trees. This also gives Reese a place for her Polar Express train that is more out of the way to play.
Since we’re in Georgia, we don’t get much snow at all, so I add a little “Southern snow” to our mantel decor.
Edward and Reese love putting puzzles together and we all enjoy playing games as much as possible, so you’ll always find a stack of games and puzzles waiting to be played in our dining room.
Our daughter has her own tree in her room too (of course). She decorates it by herself and chooses the ornaments she wants on her tree every year. I think that this is just the sweetest thing
My grandmother just gave Reese a few more Christmas treasures including this vintage cherub.
Last year, Reese and I created a lot of ornaments and accessories from left over wrapping paper, Christmas cards, and large stashes of odds and ends we’ve had too long (like these buttons). This tree looks perfect in Reese’s room. She likes to pretend it’s an antique treasure from a royal family.
And unlike many Southern families, we do not have dead animals on our walls (nor will we ever). I do, however, love deer heads like this one in our powder room, who also just got a fancy Christmas bow to dress him up for the holiday season!
My favorite part of decorating for Christmas with my family is talking about, laughing, and remembering people who have given us special ornaments, people who made them for us, ornaments we’ve made together, or those we’ve selected on trips. As I get older, I cherish this even more as some of these special people are no longer with us in the physical world. It also makes me smile that almost half of our ornaments are handmade by loved ones, local artists and my family. Here are just a few of our favorites.
I love Christmas and everything it represents. You can actually feel the Christ love in the air every year, along with the hope, the possibilities, and the dreams Christ brought into this world. Merry Christmas!
